The Seven Deadly Sins: Myth or Reality?
« on: March 13, 2010, 01:02:50 PM »
I wanted to throw another debate out on the USH:  the Seven Deadly Sins and whether or not they are "deadly".

I have an opinion which I will throw into the fray, but this is more to get the pulse of the USH.

As always, let's keep the piece as civil as possible.

Well. Those sins are performed daily in our world and our world is shit at the moment. I think it's reality.

I'll puke, eat it and freak you. Battle? I'm too weeded to speak to. The only key I see to defeat you would be for me to remove these two Adidas and beat you. Force feed you them both and on each feet is a cleet shoe.

Reality in what specific terms?  How are you gauging the deadliness of these sins?

And I agree with you; these and other sins happen...all the doggone time.  Avarice is what makes the world go....which is really sad.  And the world is not the most fun place....the ways of the world are passing away IMO....can't tell you when it'll be over, but the days are numbered.

All sins are deadly, not just these seven. Each and every sin is a capitol offense that requires the death of the World-Maker to atone for it. Sin itself is what causes death. If there was no sin, no one would ever die.

I like this take.  Because spiritual death, whether you still have a physical body (physically living) or not, is a very sticky wicket.  Separation from God is the stickiest wicket out there. Hence the whole salvation piece being necessary for us to be born again.

Personally I feel that these particular sins are just "the ones you hear about the most".  But anything not done in faith is a sin, and the only function of sin is to disrupt our desire for fellowship with God and get us to turn to other stuff.  That's just my opinion though.

Reality defines it as specific as it can be. What we live in is sin. From phone company's stealing money to the government over taxing the people. Greed is by far the biggest culprit IMO.
