Well, history is a wide ranges of countries and eras. It never ends, the countries just change hands and names. I'm bound to get something wrong at some point. In any case, at least I can stem the flow of misinformation by participating in this thread.
I think westsidah is right, that it is King John of England, nicknamed Lackland becase of all the land he lost in France. His dispute with the Roman Catholic Church made him very unpopular.
