Hawaii 5-0
« on: July 26, 2010, 02:49:20 PM »
CBS is bringing back the television classic, Hawaii 5-0. I don't know much about it except that one of the actors is Jin from LOST. I'm excited to see Jin, but aside from the show being about cops, I have no idea what Hawaii 5-0 is about. Besides, don't we have enough cop shows as it is?

Ah, but Hawaii 5-0 isn't about cops. It's about Hawaiian shirts and bikinis.

And surfing. And booking them, Danno.

This line had BETTER sound right.

So for those who were wondering...

The show is going to be centered around the son of Det. Steve Garrett (the main character from the original) and will be played by Alex O'Laughlin. The son is an ex-navy seal coming back to Hawaii, for a reason that I don't know yet. But what I do know is that he will be driving around in a black Mercury Marquis Brougham. I'm guessing that is important somehow.

Yeah, one of the mainstays of the original series was Garrett squealing his tires, as he sped through Honolulu in his black Mercury Marquis Brougham. It's a staple of the series.

I think the show is going to try really hard to link the original with the remake. The son getting the car, the end of the pilot ending with the son saying "Book 'em, Danno." (yeah, we already know that is happening) and some other Easter eggs nestled into the show that people who know the original will get automatically. However for those watching for the first time (like myself) it  won't lose you in nostalgia. Kinda like V on ABC.

This brings up an interesting concept, though. Is it the same Danno? Danno's son? And if that's the case, is Hawaii just a bottomless pit of nepotism?

I honestly have no idea how the new Danno is going to be coming into the scene. But by the looks of him, he is new just like the new Garrett. I did find out that Grace Park is going to be on the show. Her name is familiar to me, but I am not sure why. Were there any female lead actresses on Hawaii 5-0? They flashed who Grace Park was supposed to be, but I didn't catch it.

Series premiere for this show comes on tonight on CBS. I think I am going to take a peek at it.

Didn't actually watch the show because it came on the same time as Castle. Boo, CBS, boo.

So I have watched bits and pieces of the show, but so far I have not actually watched an episode all the way through. So when I say that I'm sure if I like it or not, I do understand part of my bias against might be the fact that I haven't watched an episode all the way from start to finish.

Okay, so I have basically caught up on the whole season and I am hoping that this show sticks around for a bit. I like it. Doesn't replace the Castle time slot for me (thank God for ON Demand) but still a good show.

I actually didn't care for it. I thought it lost a lot of what made the original so fun, by just turning it into another police procedure show. Like we don't have enough of those with the CSI franchise alone.

I miss big car chases.
