This is open for another week due to the USH thread Poll taking it's position as the weekly poll.

Doom. Yes he is. How many African Americans live in North America? Now, I'm not singling them out, but it supports my point so level with me here. You ask every one of them who are MUSIC fans (not just rap) and I guarantee they will admit Eminem changed hip hop music for the rest of eternity. I mean, I know grandma's who like him. Now, on top of them you have millions of white people who never would have had the balls to wear a sideways ball cap until Eminem stepped up to the plate. And that's not just in North America, but it's all over the globe. The man had a massive, massive effect on modern day society. Theres no doubt about it. And to top it off with a cherry, his lyrics are phenomenal and reach people who are considered to be in the "lower class". Now statistics say more than 70 percent of the earth's population are below upper class. I guarentee you walk down the streets of your city as ask anyone what they think of Eminem - they either love him or hate him. That lone proves my point. Whether his effect was negative or positive - the effect was massive. He had the U.S. presidential office single him out for his music and opinions. When has that happened in music history? He changed society whether you like it or not and he did it explosively. Straight up.

If you do play the rap cred in music history.. i rather give it to NWA, Public Enemy, Run DMC, or even Dr Dre before Eminem...

but it could be a generational gap....

and wearing a sideways ball cap should not affect a Music Icon status :P
